KurzMalWeg2018

“Kurz mal weg” is German for roughly “I’m just gone for a bit” (suggestions for better translations are welcome!) – on this tour I travel from the 11 of July until the day before Christmas – back for the sake of my beloved Grandma who really looks forward to seeing me then.

During “KurzMalWeg” I try to spend as much time as possible in China – which isn’t as easy as it sounds as a tourist.

There are a couple of things I want to do during this time. I want to cycle a lot. I hope to learn some Mandarin. I want to learn Tai Chi and go climbing. And of course – my easiest task – find out what I want to do with my life. Meeting people, talking to them and finding out about their way of life, their life decisions is a big part of it, so I am happy to cancel my plans for the next hours or the day to chat with other people.

And there is one thing, I don’t want to do too much off, during this time: Detailed planning. I want to go with the flow. I want to explore a place if it seems interesting. I want to keep going, if I feel like going. It is my time – and Time is luxurious.

An inspiring meeting I had been with the author and female-solo-cyclist Snezana Radojici. Some of her books have been translated into English and by the way, she tells stories, they must be great (I am yet to read them).
